Mission:
Home
Ultra’s official, award-winning environmental program: a structured framework built to shrink the festival’s footprint, drive climate action, and give back to downtown Miami.
Mission: Home is the festival’s structured operational framework for reducing its environmental footprint, promoting climate action, and cultivating community engagement in downtown Miami. Here’s how it breaks down across its core pillars, plus the latest expansions.
🤝 The Mission: Home Alliance
A newly launched, artist-partnered expansion designed to unite and tap into Ultra’s global network of headlining DJs.
The Purpose
A cooperative platform for performing artists to actively advocate for sustainability, engage their massive fanbases in climate action, and promote eco-conscious lifestyle choices.
Founding Roster
Twelve prominent electronic artists signed on as Founding Members, including genre icons from across the dance music map.
🐕 Bayfront Bark
A localized community pet adoption event held at the dog park on the southeast corner of Bayfront Park.
To clear local shelters and find permanent homes for animals, adoption fees are entirely free of charge for families.
Ticket Giveaways
Ultra incentivizes the community with ticket giveaways for those who adopt a pet or take part in on-site clothing swaps.
🌊 Making Waves
The festival’s signature annual pre-event shoreline cleanup, now in its sixth consecutive year. Community volunteers and environmental advocates remove waste and marine debris from the Biscayne Bay waterfront immediately before festival construction begins.
Protecting the Bay
Keeps pollution from entering local storm drains.
Protecting Wildlife
Safeguards regional marine wildlife along the Biscayne Bay waterfront.
📊 Core Metrics & Scope
The broader platform runs 65 distinct initiatives across the festival grounds, tracking performance against clear ecological targets.
Waste Diversion
Waste reduction strategies have diverted over 394,000 pounds from landfills since 2019.
Energy Innovation
Climate action tracks feature advanced infrastructure like zero-emission, battery-powered festival stages to cut carbon emissions during the live event.
The framework holds prestigious global honors, including the A Greener Future “Greener Festival” certification, making it a blueprint for large-scale urban event sustainability.
⚡ How the Program Expanded
Mission: Home moved from a baseline festival campaign to a structured, artist-backed collective, while adding a major hardware upgrade to the physical event infrastructure.
Before
An operational directive managed by festival staff.
Now
An artist-backed Alliance. Superstar DJs like Steve Aoki and KSHMR leverage their fanbases to promote waste reduction and eco-conscious travel choices directly.
Ultra became the first major U.S. electronic festival to completely power a large-scale stage with a zero-emission battery system. A smart-grid battery setup across the RESISTANCE Cove stage eliminates heavy diesel generators entirely from that area of the venue.
